چکیده
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is clinically characterized as uncontrolled fat accumulation in the liver resulting in inflammatory responses, insulin resistance, elevated liver enzymes, and ultimately liver failure. Currently, there are no clinical lipid markers detectable by blood test to ascertain the manifestation of improper fat regulation in the liver. The cell membranes of hepatocytes consist of an asymmetrical distribution of phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidyl ethanolamine (PE) lipids localized to the outer and inner bilayers respectively and these lipids co-exist in a fine balance to maintain cell membrane fluidity and integrity. The PC/PE ratio is thought to be off-balance in hepatocytes stricken by inflammation and un-regulated lipid metabolism. The PC/PE ratio can be determined through targeted and quantitative MS measurements of all PC and PE lipids in liver tissue lipid extracts by multiplexed precursor ion scanning.

Correlation of visfatin level with non-alcoholic fatty liver in metabolic syndrome
Background: Metabolic syndrome (MS) and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common public health problem. Visfatin is secreted by visceral adipose tissue and is an adipocytokine. It could be a pro-inflammatory adipocytokine and is related to the metabolic syndrome and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. This study evaluated the association between visfatin levels in patients w...
متن کاملThe association of serum omentin-1 levels with biochemical parameters in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease
Background: The incidence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is increasing due to the growing epidemics of obesity. Omentin-1 is an anti-inflammatory adipokine produced preferentially by visceral adipose tissue. The aim of this study was to determine omentin-1 serum levels and its relationship with body mass index, fasting blood sugar and lipid profile. Materials and methods: This cas...

Background: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) includes a range of liver damage from early steatosis to cirrhosis. Although NAFLD prevalence in the world is increasing, but there is no effective treatment for it. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of combined extract of jujube, chicory and silymarin on NAFLD induced by high-fat diet (HFD) in rats. Method: In th...
متن کاملارزیابی تاثیر درمانی مکمل دارویی حصا-آ(HESA-A) همراه با آتورواستاتین بر روی کبد چرب غیر الکلی در موش صحرایی
Background and Objective: Fatty liver disease occurs due to disturbances in lipid metabolism (increased fat synthesis and halting of catabolism) which eventually leads to the accumulation of large amounts of fat (triglycerides) in liver cells, that if left untreated lead to inflammation and cirrhosis. This study aimed to investigate the effect of concomitant use of HESA-A and atorvastatin on bi...
